About Alyssa Barrs
Alyssa is an associate lawyer at Heeney Vokey LLP. Alyssa represents both employers and employees in all aspects of employment law including wrongful dismissals, human rights and accommodation, employment standards, employment contracts, workplace policies, and related litigation. Her practice includes workplace investigations. Alyssa is committed to advocating for and protecting the rights of her clients.
Prior to joining the firm, Alyssa practiced at a boutique litigation firm. She has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice as well as numerous administrative tribunals.
Alyssa obtained an Honours Bachelor of Health Science with a Minor in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario. She completed her legal studies at the University of Ottawa and was called to the bar in 2015. Prior to law school, Alyssa obtained valuable practical experience by working at Legal Aid Ontario and completing an internship with the African Refugee Development Centre in Tel Aviv, Israel. She is also a founding member of the Canadian Australian Law Association.
During her free time, Alyssa enjoys traveling, snowboarding, boxing, and spending time with family and friends.
